The general objectives of the Puerto Rico State Agency for the Approval of Public Postsecondary Occupational and Technical Education Programs and Institutions are:
1. Establish evaluation criteria for public post-secondary vocational and technical education programs and institutions that address the services and offerings to ensure that they provide high-quality education.
2. Evaluate the academic offer and administrative services in public post-secondary institutions of occupational and technical education, according to the evaluation criteria established to verify their quality and accredit them.
3. Carrying out the accreditation procedures for public post-secondary occupational and technical education programs and institutions using the best practices based on evidence and in compliance with applicable state and federal statutes.
4. Encourage the growth of public post-secondary programs and institutions for occupational and technical education by implementing accreditation procedures and ethical, objective, and impartial accountability.
