Public Notice

We are committed to making healthy meals accessible to children and students through the federal programs and initiatives that we administer. You may join as a sponsor of the Programs, or as a collaborator, to get information to nonprofit organizations, for-profit organizations that meet the criteria for participation, and faith-based, and community-based organizations to provide food services to eligible populations currently serving and potentially benefiting from Child Nutrition Programs (CNP).

As part of the State Agency’s responsibilities, we can guarantee that these meals will be available to participants free of charge, with the exception where reduced prices are charged for services to ineligible participants. In these cases, a form is submitted to determine eligibility for services. Participants of the Nutrition Assistance Program (TANF) are automatically eligible to receive services free of charge. In the same way, meals are available to all participants, and they are served the same menu without regard to race, color, national origin, sex (gender identity or sexual orientation), age or disability; there is no discrimination during food service, under any circumstances, nor based on the protected aspects.

In addition, persons with Limited English Proficiency (LEP) are entitled to free language assistance services (e.g., translation and interpretation services), while people with disabilities are entitled to free accommodations in an alternative language or format (e.g., auxiliary aids and services and reasonable modifications). They are also entitled to a free diet modification.

For more information, and to learn about the language and communication needs that the State Agency has identified in different areas of the CNP, please contact Ms. Sandra I. Negrón, Civil Rights Coordinator at 787-759-2000, ext. 462576.
